Izzy Hagerup has a chill-inducing voice, which is why I’m fully consumed each time I hear her launch a music underneath her mission Prewn. The Los Angeles-based musician’s 2023 debut album By means of The Window solidified her as a singer-songwriter whose voice is equally as sharp as her phrases, like PJ Harvey or Adrianne Lenker. Right now, she’s returned with a brand new single “System,” and, hallelujah, the announcement of her sophomore follow-up System, out Oct. 3.
“System” opens with menacing see-sawing strings that chug on with a gritty resilience.
