With members hailing from varied outposts of the musical universe, having a synth-accordion and saxophone as featured devices, and the members’ declared bond over polyrhythmic steel, Center Age Gregorian chants and historical structure, Ckraft shaped in France a decade in the past and blew conference out the window with their 2022 debut, the appropriately titled Epic Discordant Imaginative and prescient. Bridging the hole between djent’s chugging thunder and the scattershot melodic freedom of jazz, the band have returned with album quantity two, Unusual Grounds, set for self-release subsequent week.
