Joyce Manor are again with a brand-new single, All My Associates Are So Depressed.
The trio’s first new music in three years, vocalist/guitarist Barry Johnson reveals that their comeback tune was impressed by each The Smiths (which you’ll completely hear) and, intriguingly, 100 gecs…
“The primary line I got here up with for this track was ‘lord above in a Tecate truck’ after passing a Tecate supply truck with Jesus shit throughout it on the freeway driving again to Lengthy Seashore after a present in Fresno,” Barry explains. “Whereas trying to find a line that rhymed with ‘lord above in a Tecate truck’ I got here up with ‘Why even exist? Who offers a fuck!?’ and the idea of All My Associates Are So Depressed was born.
“It’s type of my tackle what I think about Lana Del Rey lyrics are like. As a substitute of icy, indifferent cool ’50s Americana, it’s all soiled shag carpet, bong rips, Peter Frampton Comes Alive, key lime pie and suicidal ideations. My movement was impressed by 100 gecs who I used to be listening to a regarding quantity in 2023 – a lot respect to Dylan and Laura, please take us on tour. Musically, we had been drawing from The Libertines, Tiger Military, X and The Smiths… clearly.”
