Beat, the all-star King Crimson-affiliated quartet assembled to carry out Fripp & Co.’s 1980’s catalogue dwell, have launched a model of Body By Body, initially a spotlight of Crimson’s 1981 album Self-discipline.
The tune, which comes from the upcoming album Beat Stay, was recorded and filmed on the United Theater in Los Angeles, in November 2024, and follows the discharge of Neal And Jack And Me final month.
“This can be a miraculous piece of music,” says guitarist Steve Vai. “It comprises distinctive, death-defying poly-metric intertwined guitar components that seamlessly and elegantly assist a most attractive lyric and vocal melody line. It’s a pleasure to carry out each time. Did I point out that the guitar components are death-defying?”
Becoming a member of Vai on the life-threatening efficiency are King Crimson alumni guitarist/singer Adrian Belew and Chapman stick weilder Tony Levin, whereas Device drummer Danny Carey completes the quartet. In the meantime, the album was produced by Angelo “Scrote” Bundini and combined by Bob Clearmountain.
“Within the eighties, Robert Fripp made the statement that the King Crimson quartet was maybe one of the best dwell band on the planet on the time,” says Belew. “Tony, Steve, Danny and I are dedicated to honouring this legacy with every efficiency staged.”
The album’s launch shall be celebrated with a one-off present at Tokyo’s Budokan Corridor on September 1.
Beat Stay – subtitled ‘Neon Warmth Illness’ – shall be launched by InsideOutMusic/Sony on September 26 by way of the standard bewildering array of vinyl/CD/Blu-ray variants, and is obtainable to pre-order now.
