North London artist Scorching Stamp, led by sisters Jasmine and Poppy Levy, have launched their debut single “Josephine. The monitor tells the story of an obsessive friendship gone fatally incorrect, pairing sharp, unsettling lyrics with a surprisingly infectious disco-leaning refrain.

It’s a tune that toes the road between dreamlike and harmful and follows 18 months of low-key gigging throughout London, throughout which the band developed a fame for his or her adventurous stay exhibits and theatrical visible fashion.

Because the band clarify:

“We actually loved magnifying the depth of feelings with this monitor to create one thing that appears like your favorite reminiscence stabbing you within the again. It was written and recorded in a single day and nearly felt therapeutic to jot down, we regularly throw all our experiences and anecdotes into the hearth and see what jumps out as most resonant with the story. On this case, nearly all the things is autobiographical apart from the homicide.”

Drawing inspiration from a large palette that features PJ Harvey, Björk, and David Lynch, Scorching Stamp’s sound appears like an unfiltered collision of art-pop, noir, and glam. Their early days have been spent crafting tracks on their dad’s pc, earlier than refining their sound by music school and a collection of unpredictable, high-energy gigs.
