In response to a federal lawsuit alleging misleading practices and collusion with resellers, the corporate says it’s investing in AI detection and account verification to restrict ticket resales.
Ticketmaster has revealed a collection of recent measures to curb ticket scalping amid a lawsuit from the Federal Commerce Fee accusing the ticketing large of colluding with resellers to artificially inflate costs.
In a letter to U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn and Ben Ray Luján obtained by Forbes, Stay Nation govt vp Daniel M. Wall outlined steps to “enhance the proportion of tickets going to actual followers.” The corporate stated it could restrict brokers to at least one verified account utilizing Social Safety or taxpayer ID numbers, deploy AI instruments to detect and cancel bot purchases and shut down its TradeDesk stock software program, which the FTC alleges features as a device that allows scalpers.
Ticketmaster reportedly disputed the FTC’s claims, calling them “categorically false” and arguing it has invested over $1 billion in bot prevention, blocking 8.7 billion bots in April 2025 alone. The FTC’s criticism, filed with seven states, alleges the corporate violated the Higher On-line Ticket Gross sales Act and “triple dipped” on charges by amassing from the unique sale, the reseller and the resale purchaser.
